MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED, PLUS five (5) years of experience in managing the maintenance and operation of parks and athletic areas; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Supervisory experience or the demonstrated ability or skill set required to organize and supervise the activities of work crew.
- Valid State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with Air Brakes and Tanker, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire;
- Hydraulic license, Class 2B, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- Certification in the FEMA National Incident Management System ICS up to and including 200, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- MA Pesticide certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
- Thorough knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in land and facility management.
- Considerable knowledge of regulations pertaining to athletic events.
- Skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment; skill in operating and repairing equipment;
- Ability to read and apply instructions for the application of chemicals and pesticides.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Massachusetts certification in Landscape or Turf Management
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Motor vehicles, common hand and power tools, shovels, various size mowers, tractors, trimmers, field groomer; paint machines; trucks equipped with plows and other attachments; plucker, one?ton dump truck, saws, broom equipped tractor; mobile radio, phone, calculator.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
