Program Assistant

All Out Adventures is looking for highly motivated Program Assistants to assist our Program Leaders in carrying out our adaptive outdoor recreation programs.  Program Assistants support the Program Leaders in creating an inclusive atmosphere where people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities feel included and a sense of belonging, and in ensuring that all programs are operated in accordance with our organization’s protocols and values.

Successful candidates will be comfortable working collaboratively as a member of a small team, under the direction of the organization’s directors and Program Leaders.  Our programs are often a fast-paced environment where we are juggling multiple priorities.  We place a high value on our relationships with each other, program participants, and our community.  Successful candidates will have a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities, seniors, and veterans, a willingness to pitch in and help co-workers and the organization as needed, a sense of humor, and an ability to flex to meet the needs of the program when the day isn’t going according to plan.

This is a part time, hourly position, with most work available from January through October each year.  Most of our program staff are also working part time elsewhere or juggling family and school commitments with our program schedule.  We create our staffing schedule seasonally and well in advance so staff can plan around other commitments.  

Program Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Accurately follow program checklist to bring the required gear to programs
  • Load and unload equipment for programs
  • Clean, organize, and maintain program equipment throughout the day
  • Tandem pedal or paddle with individual program participants as needed
  • Fit safety equipment, such as helmets and life jackets to program participants
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming program base area
  • Assist program participants with transfers into and out of equipment


  • This position is compensated hourly, in the range of $15-21/hour depending on background, experience, and certifications

Program Assistant Requirements:

  • Personal competence and experience in one or more program areas
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to take and integrate feedback
  • A strong personal desire to make the outdoors accessible to those with disabilities, seniors, and veterans
  • Ability to obtain and maintain 1st Aid/CPR certification 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work long days outdoors, including in direct sun, in temperatures ranging from 10 degrees in the winter to the upper 90s in the summer
  • Ability to bike, paddle, hike, snowshoe, etc. for up to 6 hours in a day
  • Ability to ride as a passenger up to 3 hours each way to a program in our vehicles
