Job Description: GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Part-Time Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for students participating in academic and co-curricular activities. This position operates college-owned vans and transports students to field placements, internships, community engagement sites, and designated shopping destinations in North Adams, Pittsfield, and surrounding areas. The Shuttle Driver serves as an ambassador of the College by fostering a welcoming, student-centered environment while ensuring compliance with all transportation safety regulations and institutional policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate College-owned passenger vans in accordance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws.
- Transport students to and from field placements, internships, volunteer sites, and other approved educational experiences.
- Provide scheduled shopping shuttle services to local stores and businesses in North Adams, Pittsfield, and surrounding communities.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance concerns or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and passenger counts.
- Ensure vehicles remain clean, fueled, and ready for scheduled use.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, or unexpected travel disruptions.
- Adhere to all College transportation policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record review and any required background checks.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Previous experience driving passenger vans, shuttles, or similar vehicles.
- Experience working with college students or in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Berkshire County roads and surrounding communities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
- Ability to assist with loading and unloading light items when necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Additional Information:This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position starting 9/2/2026 running through 5/14/2027. This position is 15-18 hours per week, requiring evening and weekend availability depending on operational needs.
Salary for this position is $18-$21/hour.
