    This is a full-time 40-hour per week position. The Quality and Compliance Coordinator is a Registered Nurse or Medical Social Worker responsible for quality, regulatory, and compliance activities and standards for the organization. The Quality and Compliance Coordinator is primarily responsible for monitoring, implementing, and evaluating processes and programs to meet regulatory, accreditation, and standards-of-practice requirements. 

    Essential Job Functions 

    • Monitors the organization’s quality improvement program.
    • Compiles trends and reports quality data in the areas of patient care, safety, risk management, infection control outcomes, and customer satisfaction.
    • Works collaboratively with Department Supervisors to ensure documentation is complete and consistent with care and reflects legal requirements. Completes clinical record reviews and data collection.
    • Participates in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Committee and meetings.
    • Coordinates, implements, and ensures processes are in place to monitor and evaluate safety, risk management, and infection control programs.
    • Acts as a resource to staff in identifying safety, risk management, and infection control issues for patients and staff related to safety and infection control standards.
    • Oversees staff immunizations to ensure they have been vaccinated per IHC policy to prevent the spread of diseases.
    • Collaborates with the Educator to help identify skills for annual competence and provides in-service training support.
    • Monitors and ensures organization compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards such as Medicare Conditions of Participation, Health Accreditation Program’s (CHAP), local, state, and federal requirements.
    • Maintains current knowledge related to Medicare Conditions of Participation and CHAP standards related to infection control practices to ensure the organization is compliant with state, federal, and accreditation guidelines.
    • Participates in administrative on-call rotation as an administrative resource to the clinical staff operating in the field during on-call hours.
    • Works with the Executive Director to assess patient and family experience.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

    Qualifications 

                (Minimum qualifications will be considered required unless specifically stated otherwise) 

    Experience:  

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing or social work experience, hospice preferred.
    • Experience in health care quality improvement and/or compliance preferred

    Education and Training:  

    (Acquired through formal education, outside study, training on jobs of lesser degree, or by any combination of these. May be expressed in terms of formal educational equivalents):   

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree preferred

    OR 

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work
    • Has knowledge of state, federal, and CHAP regulations for hospice programs

    License, Certification & Registration:  

    • Possesses and maintains current CPR Certification.
    • Current MA licensure: RN or LCSW
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse or Social Worker Certification preferred

    Other Requirements: 

    • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication and public relations skills.
    • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.
    • Demonstrates excellent observation skills.
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language proficiently.
    • Must have proficient computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, and objectives, policies, and procedures that relate to the compliance function.
    • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.
    • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients/ family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

    • Title of direct supervisor: Executive Director
    • Additional supervision received from: Clinical Manager, Director of Quality
    • Key Contacts (external/ internal):

    Medical Director; Clinical Manager, Education Director, Referral/ Intake team; Interdisciplinary Team members; Human Resource Manager

    Working Conditions 

    • Uniform / Dress Requirements (Beyond those requirements outlined within Policy No. C:3-015.1): None

    Work Environment: 

    Working Conditions:  Primarily office environment with expectation of occasional clinical field work as appropriate. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions. Must drive in various weather conditions on roads in varying repair. 

    • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations.  
    • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Travel required. OSHA exposure category:
    • OSHA exposure category: Category II
      • Category I ? Position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues.
      • Category II ?Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, but employment may require unplanned Category I tasks.
      • Category III ? Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues; would not be required to perform Category I tasks.
