Homeownership Advisor (Bilingual)

Interested in joining our team of dedicated professionals? Way Finders is currently seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Homeownership Advisor in our Housing Education Services department. The Homeownership Advisor will further our mission by providing customer-focused education and outreach to first-time homebuyers, existing homeowners, and those seeking assistance with budgeting and credit. Outreach is conducted in target neighborhoods and communities with the goal of increasing participation in programming.

This is a great opportunity for those with a background in case management, banking, teaching, or para-professional services and is looking to advocate for others in the community.  On-the-job training is provided!

Wage starts between $19.25 and $22.00 per hour depending on equivalent qualifications. Interested applicants must submit a resume; applications will be accepted until the position is filled. CORI/SAM/MVR.
 
The candidate may work in a hybrid-remote capacity, but in-office meetings and community visits are a regular part of the role.  To deliver exceptional service, work is occasionally necessary outside of traditional business hours.

Responsibilities include:
•    Conduct clear and effective community outreach and marketing to residents in targeted neighborhoods and communities, using a variety of methods to build strong working relationships, including door knocking; one-on-one and informational meetings; distribution of flyers and literature; hosting virtual meeting platforms; and via social media
•    Conduct ongoing workshops, utilizing Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved curriculum, to first time homebuyers, existing homeowners, and those seeking assistance with budgeting and credit, specifically the classes First Time Homebuyer Education, Landlord Education, Credit Success, and Post-Purchase
•    Perform outreach to community agencies and industry partners to market Homeownership Services in an effort to increase enrollment and participation in services
•    Attend and participate in community activities and outreach events as scheduled
•    Remain current on trends and developments in homeownership programs and service offerings, eligibility and related guidelines
•    Ensure compliance with associated funders
•    Create and maintain accurate, timely, and detailed customer records to ensure compliance with program regulations and to maximize reimbursement 
•    Establish and maintain strong relationships with HOME staff and external business lines 
•    Attend meetings, trainings, and informational sessions as required
•    Obtain and maintain any required certifications
•    Inform management/leadership of any issues that may adversely affect the department or the organization 

Requirements include:
•    2 years' equivalent experience in housing, social services, outreach, or advocacy; a combination of experience plus a high school diploma (or equivalent) may be a substitute 
•    Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills required
•    Ability to effectively collaborate with people from myriad backgrounds in an urban environment 
•    Demonstrated facilitation, coaching, counseling, or customer support skills
•    Adept in the use of Microsoft Office and other applications, with comfort learning new technologies
•    Ability to earn and maintain professional certifications
•    Excellent organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and follow-through on tasks and projects
•    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of an organization and with constituents and stakeholders, with the ability to work with community organizations and in facilitation-based and group settings
•    Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
•    Resourcefulness in pursuing information and activities to achieve program goals; having an established network and/or knowledge of resources is a plus 
•    Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner
•    Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; reliable vehicle
•    Per funding requirements, CORI and SAM background checks
