Part-time Electrical Inspector Needed

The Job: Become a Town of Amherst Part-Time Electrical Inspector!
Inspect electrical installations within city buildings to ensure compliance with Massachusetts Electrical Codes and the safety of the public. Review construction plans; Investigate code compliance and wiring complaints; Issue electrical permits and citations; Work collaboratively with Town departments and other stakeholders to resolve wiring issues.

The Candidate: If you have a valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electricians License AND a Massachusetts Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one), APPLY NOW!!

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electricians License AND valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Driver's License.
• Knowledge of operations, services and activities of a comprehensive electrical inspection program, occupational hazards and standard safety practices, accepted methods of building construction for commercial and residential buildings, and pertinent Federal, State and local laws and regulations, including the Massachusetts Electrical Code.
• Ability to interpret and apply pertinent Federal, State and local laws, and electrical codes and regulations.
• Anility to read and understand complex building plans and specifications, apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques to determine compliance with plans, codes, regulations, and standard construction practices.
• Ability to interpret, explain and enforce policies and procedures related to electrical construction standards.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports, communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and maintain effective working relationships.
