Seasonal Part-time (Non-Benefited) - Approximately June 3, 2024 – September 13, 2024
Hours: up to 40 hours per week – must be willing to work flexible hours including weekend shifts
Pay Scale - Part-time Wage Scale Level 1 - $15.00 per hour

Essential Functions: (The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Trail Crew Duties:
Responsible for trail clearing, maintenance and construction on Amherst Conservation Areas and Trails.

• Clearing fallen trees, brush and debris off trails
• Cutting back brush on trails with brush cutters, string trimmers, loppers, etc.
• Maintaining &installing Conservation trailheads, parking areas and signage
• Carpentry & construction work including bridge repairs and replacement on trails

Minimum Qualifications:
Outdoor, landscape, carpentry and/or construction work experience in all types of weather. Minimum of 1 year of experience with power tools, lawn mowers, string trimmers. Experience with week whackers and brush cutters is a plus. Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs. Must work well with others on a team. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.

While not a requirement for the conservation seasonal laborer positions, special consideration will be given to those who possess the ability to safely and effectively run more technical power equipment such as chainsaws. This includes the successful completion of a chainsaw safety course, and/or proof of sufficient employment experience where chainsaw training was provided and duties included its safe and proficient use.

Puffer's Pond Duties:
Responsible for overseeing public use at the Puffer's Pond/Mill River Conservation Area. Must work well independently and be self-motivated to keep busy. Pond duties include but are not limited to:

• Pond and beach enforcement
• Daily monitoring of beach activity
• Daily site clean-up of trash and debris on the North/South beaches and perimeter trails

Minimum Qualifications:
Outdoor work experience in all types of weather. Ability to work well comfortably with the general public and enforce rules. First Aid/CPR Certification is a plus.

Tools and Equipment Used:
Power tools, and other hand tools associated with landscaping and construction. Landscaping/construction machinery such as, but not limited to, lawn Mowers.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed outdoors, requiring exposure to weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, noise level is loud. Works frequently near moving mechanical parts. Operates hand tools and equipment in the construction, repair and maintenance of municipal facilities, grounds, parks and trees. Operates computers, telephone, and occasionally other standard office equipment. Operates motorized vehicles and equipment, including pickup truck, utility truck, plate compactor, saws, pumps, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, mobile or portable radio. There is work frequently near moving mechanical parts and experiences vibration.
