Description: | Town of Amherst Lead Electrician Department of Public Works The Town of Amherst seeks an Equipment Operator to perform skilled electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work for Town buildings, utilities, and traffic controls. The Lead Electrician ensures all electrical work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable codes and procedures; coordinates projects and contractors; maintains records and reports, and supervises Electrician(s). Designated essential personnel. |
| Requirements: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent PLUS ten (10) years of experience as an Electrician; OR a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position - Thorough knowledge of the Massachusetts Electrical Code and other applicable codes
- Strong understanding of the principles, theory, and method of programming analog and digital electronics, electro-mechanics, and instrumentation of computer-based control systems
- Comprehensive understanding of pumps, compressors, generators, and other equipment common to the water/wastewater industry
- Thorough knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal devices including the ability to adjust and change signal settings
- Extensive knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, occupational hazards, and safety practices common to the trade, as well as the hazards common to water and wastewater facilities
- Ability to work from wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, blueprints, manufacturer’s manuals and specifications, sketches, and verbal instructions to install, maintain, calibrate, repair and troubleshoot a wide range of electrical instrumentation and computer-based control systems
- Basic reading, writing, mathematical, and verbal communication skills
- Ability and willingness to act as Essential Personnel.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License
- Massachusetts Journeymen Electricians License
- Certification in the FEMA National Incident Management System up to and including ICS 300 and OSHA 30 certification
