Edward Elgar Publishing, an award-winning global independent academic and professional publisher with a strong focus on the social sciences and legal fields, is seeking a full-time (35 hours per week) Administrative Assistant in our Northampton, MA office. The position primarily supports sales of large ebook collections. You must be detail-oriented and organized, and must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision, but in close collaboration with other members of the sales team.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Support for the Sales Reps in acquiring and onboarding new ebook collection customers in North & South America, including researching contact information for library decision makers and faculty
  • Assist with customer access to resources on our back-end software, including setting up credentials, uploading collection data, activation, providing cataloging records, and troubleshooting access issues
  • Create and monitor usage statistic reports for internal and customer use
  • Prepare book data for third-party vendors
  • Support libraries in building research guides that include Elgar resources
  • Coordinate materials for display at academic and library conferences
  • Answer phones and monitor our general info email address

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or commensurate experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and/or Google Workspace (Docs and Sheets)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written 
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently

Appreciated, but not required:

  • Knowledge of scholarly publishing and/or the academic library community and its issues.
  • FileMaker Pro experience
  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Bilingual English/Spanish verbal and written skills

 What’s in it for you:

  • Salary range of $37,000-$44,000 based on 35 hours per week. Actual values will be based on the experience of the successful candidate
