Under the supervision of the custodial supervisor, the custodians will perform duties in accordance with the College’s established Quality Assurance Program. Custodians will provide superior customer service while completing in a timely manner, all work requests assigned by the custodial supervisor in accordance with established cleaning standards and instructions. Custodians will act as independent entities in the maintenance and care of their buildings, and are expected to think and act progressively in the maintenance and care of their building(s). Custodians must participate in the on-call program rotation, as well as the Blood-Borne Pathogens program. ????? High school diploma or equivalent with two years of job-related experience is required. Applicants should have general knowledge of building maintenance and cleaning processes. Work is both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to unpleasant elements and a harsh environment such as extreme temperatures, wind, sunlight, rain, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, chemicals, etc. This position includes custodial responsibilities requiring significant physical activity; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Candidate should be able to read, write, understand, and give written and verbal instruction in English. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must successfully meet the requirements of Hampshire College’s driver credentialing policy. Employment is dependent on successful completion of a pre-employment physical. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
