BHN/OTP is a Medication Assisted Treatment Program to assist individuals who are opiate addicted and are experiencing the dysfunctional effects of its use to gain and maintain the skills needed to achieve an opiate-free lifestyle and to improve functioning. Nurses use their knowledge of specific biophysical, psychosocial, and spiritual dimensions to perform and document thorough assessments of individuals in recovery from substance use, recognizing the unique needs of dually diagnosed individuals and special populations. Nurses make medical assessments, as needed. Throughout their care, nurses establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the members of the health care team and provide care with kindness and sensitivity, preserving individuals’ autonomy, dignity, and rights.

The Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) in Greenfield, MA uses medication protocols approved by the Medical Director to ensure patients are safely detoxified from these substances. These protocols are evidenced based, and are implemented through assessment and re-assessment practices throughout the process.
