JOB DESCRIPTION



JOB TITLE: HOUSEKEEPER

SUMMARY:

• Keeps school buildings in clean and orderly condition, allowing for professional
appearance of institution and high quality of life for students.
• Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
• Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, stairways, laundry rooms, and offices.
• Sweeps and mops floors and vacuums rugs and draperies.
• Dusts furniture and removes cobwebs.
• Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
• Spot washes walls and woodwork as needed.
• Empties wastebaskets and recycles.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal and /or recycling area.
• Carpet spills are spot cleaned ASAP to prevent permanent stains.
• Dishes and glasses are picked up as needed.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Replaces light bulbs in lamps.
• All other duties as assigned: Including backup of people absent due to
illness or vacation.
• Special functions including Reunion, Summer Camp, visitors, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee maybe exposed to toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals. Protective masks and gloves are made available and employees are encouraged to use.

The employee has to ascend and descend stairs with supplies and vacuum. Also must be able to work in buildings on campus not connected to Main Building while transferring supplies, mop buckets, vacuums, etc. Employee must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.

Maintains inventory of cleaning products in properly labeled containers.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
