|For 40 years, The Center for EcoTechnology has helped people and businesses in Massachusetts save energy and reduce waste. We are hiring several Energy Analysts to join the team that works with homeowners, farms or businesses who want to reduce costs and improve environmental performance through a variety of measures including electric and natural gas energy efficiency.|
The Energy Analyst identifies and documents energy saving opportunities at assigned homes and/or industrial and commercial building types. The Analyst is responsible to secure sales in energy efficiency measures and educate homeowners and/or business owners about the program offerings available to them. As an Energy Analyst, you will assist with securing applicable utility rebates or incentives and motivate the clients to implement the recommendations. You will calculate estimated savings and produce reports based on the findings. Depending upon your assignment, you will be involved with some of the functions below:
Energy Assessments: Conducts energy assessments of existing homes and/or business equipment and facilities and analyzes assessment data. Where appropriate, uses technology to perform combustion and other designated tests. Quantifies savings and produces reports that document the recommendations. Completes the required number of assessments.
Project Management: Remains up to date on the progress of all projects and deliverables, working with Program Specialists as appropriate. May locate appropriate industry contractors. Manages numerous projects simultaneously. Ensures that client projects comply with appropriate utility program requirements to qualify for program incentives or rebates. Enters data generated by assessments into appropriate databases.
Technical Reviews: For commercial and industrial assignments, performs technical reviews of calculations, studies and reports prepared by engineers, vendors or contractors that document energy usage and potential energy savings of equipment and building changes to ensure that all data, assumptions, calculations and recommendations are accurate.
Sales and Relationship Development: Achieves sales by communicating to customer the results of the energy assessment and recommended energy saving measures. In commercial and industrial settings, performs outreach to business owners, managers, and others to solicit interest in having evaluations of their facilities performed. In residential settings, when identified, sells ISM’s (instant savings measures such as light bulbs) and installs them or schedules future installation date.
Travels widely throughout MA and other states as required. Commutes to assignments using GPS or map to maximize time and minimize cost.
Maintains membership in appropriate industry associations and maintains ongoing professional development. Attends trainings as assigned.
|For Commercial and Industrial work: Minimum 1 year experience working in field related to energy efficiency, with 1-3 years of commercial energy auditing experience. Experience with selling technical services preferred with the ability to close on sales and excellent communication skills. CEM or other technical certification a bonus. Must be able to meet sales goals. Must be organized and have the ability to work independently. Ability to track and report results with strong skills in Excel. Work style should be flexible, reliable, self-directed, an excellent listener and have a proficient work ethic. Driving to energy assessments required.|
For Residential work: Must be able to learn building science and achieve BPI Building Analyst certification within 6 months of employment. Must be able to drive extensively throughout Western Massachusetts and the majority of time will be spent in the field. Ability to learn and perform a variety of diagnostic tests and use a range of equipment and processes. Ability to learn utility rate structures and analyze usage patterns. Ability to make persuasive technical sales presentations. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and work effectively as part of a team.
Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements:
Including but not limited to the following: Environment: Movement throughout a variety of homes and facilities, with entry to basements, attics and crawl space. Physical Demands: Lift up to 50 lbs. Walking, stooping, lifting, sitting, standing, climbing, crawling, reaching, keying, repetitive movements, kneeling, and crouching. Equipment Used: Including but not limited to the following: Automobile, computer, cell phone, ladders and other technical and scientific equipment.
