Description:
Orion, a non-profit magazine about people and nature, seeks a Database Manager to join our small, hard-working team. This person will be responsible for all of Orion’s constituent data, including subscribers, donors, and other stakeholders. This person plays a crucial role in Orion’s circulation, fundraising, and customer service, and the position must be filled by someone who truly enjoys hands-on data management and derives professional satisfaction from maintaining very clean data. The database manager functions as both database operator and database administrator. They must be alert to trends, relationships, and opportunities that emerge through their close contact with the data, and know when and how to communicate those insights clearly to their colleagues. They must be committed to learning the full capacity of Orion’s Salesforce database and to helping steward a workplace environment that is data-driven and reader-centric
Requirements:
This position requires a person who loves detail and derives professional satisfaction from maintaining orderly and thorough data. Proficiency in all MS Office products for Mac, particularly mail merge and Excel, is required. This position also requires good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate the relationship between data and organizational success. A bachelor’s degree, relevant work experience, and Wordpress experience are preferred; experience with Salesforce is strongly preferred, but training is available. As a key member of Orion’s small staff, the database manager will be expected to actively help steward an institutional culture that is grounded in collaboration, openness, enthusiasm for others’ ideas, and generosity of spirit.
