Become a part of our team of competent, caring, and supportive professionals as a School Therapist at Behavioral Health Network! At BHN’s Valley Human Services program in Ware, MA, School Therapists have made a significant impact on the lives of people in the Ware, Palmer, Monson, Warren, and Belchertown communities by providing high-quality services in a vibrant, collaborative setting. We are now expanding to include the community of North Brookfield. This position is for a therapist who will be located at the North Brookfield Elementary School.

School Therapists provide assessments and individual, family, and group therapy for students at the school served and consults with school administrators and teachers about prospective school-based counseling referrals to aid behavioral health problems in the school. The School Therapists also provide crisis and care coordination services when appropriate and coordinates treatment planning with others involved with the individuals served. Working with public and private agencies, they focus on the development and dissemination of mental health education materials and maintain documentation about the services provided. School Therapists are only expected to work during the 36 weeks that school is in session, and their schedule can be flexible as full-time, part-time, or fee-for-service therapists.

School Therapists have access to a number of free BHN trainings and develop a working knowledge of community resources to provide to the people they serve. Supervision is provided based on School Therapists’ individual needs. Additionally, the position allows the flexibility for School Therapists to create their schedule to accommodate their needs, working as many or few hours as they would like.

The Valley Human Services program recently joined the family of Behavioral Health Network services. This union allows BHN to aid a wider population across Western Massachusetts for outpatient mental health treatment. Requirements:
School Therapists at Behavioral Health Network’s VHS program have the following qualities:
• Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy.
• Child and adolescent experience (required).
• Independently licensed or license-eligible (required).
• Ability to diagnose and treat children and/or adolescents using a range of modalities including individual, group, and family therapies (preferred).
• General knowledge of computer software applications and be able to use a keyboard effectively.
• Familiarity with internet, e-mail, and basic word processing.
• Willing to learn and become proficient with new software applications necessary to perform job, including electronic health record, if applicable.
