THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Pope Francis Preparatory School seeks a highly motivated Director of Development. The ideal candidate will have experience working with and connecting to a large and varied constituency. He/she will have the ability to oversee a department, inspire and manage people, while also acting as a professional mentor to build on the skills and strengths of direct reports. The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to effectively use a variety of programs and software, including database programs. The ideal candidate will be an experienced fundraising professional who is confident reaching out to establish new individual and business relationships and donors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in successful fundraising, be self-motivated, optimistic, and determined. The ideal candidate will have experience identifying grant opportunities and successful experience raising funds through social media platforms. He/she will interact with students, parents, faculty and the public, both in person and on the phone. He/she will be an outgoing, innovative professional with exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills. In this role, the candidate must be a skilled communicator, exceptional at prioritizing work, consistently and accurately complete tasks to deadline, and must be able to comfortably multi-task.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A Bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred
• Successful fundraising experience cultivating, engaging, and expanding donor relationships
• Experience in development, preferably at a non-profit institution within education; Successful experience in a development leadership position preferred

MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of the Development Department:
• Develop an annual development plan and budget based on Board and administration priorities consistent with the school’s vision
• The Director of Development leads the Director of Alumni Relations and the Database Specialist
• Provide clear vision, supervisory leadership and management, and strategic direction for all aspects of the school’s development department
• Represent the department at the senior administration level
• Supervise, set direction, and support the goals for each member of the development team. Ensure that each individual clearly understands his/her responsibilities and objectives/goals
• Provide regular performance feedback, including annual evaluations, for the purpose of supporting the professional growth and talents of each of the development team members
• Oversee the gift reporting, acknowledgements, accounting and data management of the development office
• Update and ensure the accuracy of all donor agreement and gift acceptance policies
• Coordinate all other outside fundraising activities originating in either the alumni, Parent Association, Booster Club, or other school organizations
• Create a comprehensive parent program, characterized by more robust parent engagement and financial support for the short and long-term benefit of PFPS
• Create a culture and environment that encourages inclusiveness and teamwork

Fundraising:
• Ensure resources are in place to support the school’s long-term financial stability by designing and implementing strategies for raising funds to support current and future operations
• Oversee all planning and implementation of the school’s fundraising efforts, including annual fund, major gift campaigns, special projects, and planned giving. Develop strategies for increasing annual fundraising
• Identify, cultivate and steward major donors, and develop strategies to expand the current base of philanthropic revenue sources for the school
• Manage a personal portfolio of high-level major gift prospects. Partner with the Head of School to create his/her portfolio of high-level major gift prospects and donors

Alumni:
• Oversee all alumni relations, including building and strengthening relationships with alumni of the school(s)
• Establish and implement short and long-range alumni development strategies, goals, objectives, and strategic planning in conjunction with the Head of School and the Board of Directors

Communications:
• Collaborate with the Chief Communications Officer, Admission Director, and the Institutional Administrative team to develop a comprehensive long-range marketing and communications plan that includes the production of brochures, the Annual Report, Cardinal magazine, and campaign and/or constituent specific materials
• Represent the school and be an active participant in the community through regular attendance at school functions, events and membership in professional associations

Board of Directors:
• Work with the Development Committee chair to set fundraising agendas, provide data, and coordinate all fundraising efforts
• Provide quarterly reports to the Head of School to be distributed to the Board
• Attend Board meetings as needed

Head of School:
• Provide comprehensive and effective support for the Head of School
• Provide research, background information, appropriate materials, and recommended strategies for dealing with specific constituents and donors
• Work with the Head of School to implement the goals and vision for the institution. As a member of the Institutional Administrative team, help develop priorities and strategies for the school


COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with education and experience
Salaried, 12-month position
