The Amherst Regional Public Schools are located in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. The area is rich in cultural, recreational and academic activities and opportunities. Our mission is the academic achievement of every student learning in a system dedicated to social justice and multiculturalism. The school system educates a diverse population of approximately 3000 students, including native speakers of more than 38 languages. Three elementary schools are located in the town of Amherst and one in the town of Pelham. Our middle school and high school are located in the town of Amherst and draw students from the towns of Amherst and Pelham, as well as Leverett and Shutesbury. The central office for the district is located in the middle school building at 170 Chestnut Street in Amherst.?

We are seeking an energetic and inclusive leader, who is collaborative, adept at building a positive supportive, culturally competent community; who is able to lead, inspire and treat students and staff equitably and with dignity. This individual must demonstrate a commitment to social justice, an understanding of special education laws and restorative practices.

Candidates for this position should hold the appropriate State of Massachusetts Principal License, possess a strong academic background and have a firm grasp of the principles and practices of leadership and administration. Candidates with prior administrative experience and an advanced degree are preferred. Deadline for applications is Monday, June 4, 2018. This is a 2-year position.

The applicant should be aware that, if she/he is successful and is moving into another district, this transfer will result in the loss of Professional Teacher Status and seniority for purposes of the Reduction in Staff provision of the collective bargaining agreement.

Under the laws of MA the ARPS have the final responsibility for establishing educational policies for ARPS and may require additional professional development as a condition of employment
