Description:
Shared Living Providers share their homes and lives with individual(s) with disabilities. Some individuals need total care. Other individuals need less assistance. Every individual needs help with daily living tasks like attending medical appointments, getting around town, managing their money, taking their medicine, making friends and being part of the community where they live. The person you support will live with you as a part of your extended family, sharing your daily life as you provide care and support for them. By sharing your home and life and providing a flexible and supportive environment, individuals feel safe, secure and included.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning, preparing and sharing meals together each day, going to appointments, managing medication and participating in community and social activities. You may also need to provide assistance, supervision and teaching in areas identified in the individual’s Care Plan. In addition, the Provider is patient and emotionally supportive.

Shared Living Providers include people who are single, people who are part of a couple, people who have extended families, people with children, people with pets, and people with or without experience live in a single family home or apartment with an extra bedroom.
Requirements:
Shared Living Providers must pass a background check, including a criminal record screening, driving record check, and home assessment. Shared Living Providers must have appropriate accommodations to meet the individual’s living needs and be understanding and supportive of individuals with disabilities.

Shared Living Providers are independent contractors who receive:
