Description: | Deerfield Academy is seeking a Director of the Children’s School, reporting to the Director of Human Resources, to manage the Center’s operations. The Center has two classrooms, allowing enrollment for 18 full time Pre-School/Toddler children, as cared for by 4 regular Lead Teachers, and a group of substitute teachers, during a 38 week academic year and an 8 week summer program. The primary duties and responsibilities of the position include: serving as the primary contact with the Academy’s administrative departments to ensure adherence to academy policy and to maximize operations; managing all aspects of staff supervision and oversight to provide the highest quality program of care and safety of children; managing all policy development and oversight; ensuring adherence to MA EEC rules and regulations, including Child Progress Report system; liaising with parents and families to communicate child progress, Center policies, programs, and events; assume responsibility for facility concerns, both inside and outside of the Center, from a safety and compliance perspective; performing general day-to-day administration of the Center by maintaining files and records for re-licensure. |
Requirements: | The successful candidate will possess: a Bachelor’s Degree preferred, EEC Director Certification, and 3+ years of Director experience, preferably at the toddler/pre-school level; demonstrated understanding of child growth and development, including general knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aid; demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality about children and families; willingness to perform the role of mandated reporter; demonstrated excellent organization, oral and written communication skills; demonstrated high level of patience and diplomacy; facility with the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to calmly handle stressful and emergency situations.
