Follow the YMCA mission. Ensure the well-being of the facility and all the equipment within. Essential Functions/Job Duties: • Have your necessary equipment set up before gymnasts arrive. • Maintain a clean environment throughout the shift. • Maintain constant supervision of the campers under your responsibility. • Report any safety threats to supervisor immediately. • Ensure safety of all participants and staff by enforcing rules and consequences consistently. • Act as a role model for all participants. • Understand all YMCA value and character development philosophies, and represent these values. • All staff must have appropriate attire at all times. Long hair should be pulled back and away from face. During swimming, appropriate coverage is expected. Athletic attire is expected. • Staff must follow the appropriate lessons for their groups as a guideline. Requirements: Job Qualifications: • Prior gymnastics and/or gymnastics camp experience (Senior Counselor) • Strong spotting technique on all events • Enthusiasm for providing a quality, educational full camp experience • Creativity in designing and executing engaging lessons • Excellent human relation skills with the ability to build professional relationships with children, parents, and other members • Senior Counselors, must be at least 18 years old • Junior Counselors, must be at least 16 years old **We are willing to train the right candidates. Summer positions begin in mid-June through end of August for up to 40 hours/week. Opportunity to continue employment in the fall with up to 20 hours/week.
