Summary:

This full-time position provides employment related counseling and assistance to refugees by developing and implementing employment plans, conducting job searches, training clients in the basics of being part of the US workforce, and removing barriers to employment. S/he facilitates access to community and state resources and/or services to assist clients in obtaining suitable employment and self-sufficiency.

Essential Responsibilities:

Evaluates the aptitudes, interests, work skills, work experience, education, and/or degree of limitations of clients in order assist in finding suitable employment.
Identifies and helps clients overcome barriers to employment.
Helps clients to build job-search, interviewing and negotiation skills as well as knowledge of community supports in order to maintain employment.
Track client data, employer data, and prepare reports as required.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with employers and community organizations through personal visits and telephone contact in order to increase employment opportunities for clients.
Documents through case notes, all meetings, progress, and agreements with clients. Maintains client files in accordance with agency standards.
Conducts trainings and facilitates interactive discussion groups focusing on workplace issues.
Facilitates client access to other resources, including referal to recreational activities, housing, food, clothing, and school/vocational opportunities or services.
Particpates in the promotion of Ascentria through community networking and when appropriate.
Supports other SNA departments such as SNAP-Ed, microenterprise, and case management as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned to help meet the goals of the program or the agency.
Requirements:
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred or two years of relevant field experience required.
Valid driver’s license, positive driving record, and proof of automobile insurance required to transport and assist clients in own vehicle required.
Ability to speak a language of Ascentria’s refugee populations strongly preferred.
Computer skills required: Microsoft office suite, Outlook, and databases.
Ability to work sensitively and effectively in a multi-cultural/multi-lingual environment.
Must be willing to travel and scheduling flexibility required.
Ability to work as a team member and independently.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to rapidly changing priorities throughout the day.
Ability to recommend and make process improvements.
Ability to be flexible, adapt, and contribute to ongoing organizational transformation.

Visual activity requires ability to look at a computer screen, regularly. The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach, and type. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
