Amherst College invites applications for the Director of Class Campaigns and Annual Fund Leadership position. The Director of Class Campaigns and Annual Fund Leadership is a full-time, year round position, job group and level SM-4. The Directorresponsible for the 25th Reunion program and the strategy, management, and growth of the 1821 Society across the Annual Fund program. The Director will work to develop strategies and to implement fundraising activities to meet Annual Fund goals, to cultivate and steward alumni volunteers and donors. In addition, this position will build on the College's 25th Reunion program success and find new strategies to strengthen donor participation and fundraising totals. Working closely with current staff across Advancement, this position will grow the 1821 Society-which includes the Amherst Fund's best and most generous donors-through the careful use of data, metrics, and best practices in annual giving.

Reporting to the Director of the Annual Fund, the Director will work closely with the Annual Fund and Leadership Giving teams, coordinating the Advancement Office's efforts to increase leadership giving to the Annual Fund and work to recruit, train, and support 1821 Society class volunteers. In addition, the Director will travel to meet with 1821 Society donors and volunteers, soliciting support of the College and stewarding these individuals.

The Director will take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Class Management
• Manage fundraising activities for the classes around the 20th and 25th Reunions
• Implement Annual Fund strategies for classes to reach dollar and participation goal
• Direct an active volunteer class agent structure
• Solicit and steward leadership gift in the 12 alumni classes, particularly for reunion classes
• Travel to meet, solicit, and cultivate volunteers and leadership donors

1821 Society Management
• Plan strategically all aspects of the 1821 Society of the Annual Fund which recognizes current-use gifts from $1,821 to $100,000+ and accounts for 80% of the $10 million raised each year by the Annual Fund
• Coordinate stewardship activities, including on and off-campus events, working with Advancement's events staff
• Work to strengthen class-based 1821 Society support in collaboration with Annual Fund and Research staff
• Assist with the recruitment and coordination of 1821 Society volunteers across the program
• Steward 1821 Society volunteers and work with the Director to coordinate supporting materials
• Directly solicit and steward a portfolio of leadership prospects in the Annual Fund

Portfolio Management
• Responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of 1821 Society prospects across classes
• Develop portfolios for each Annual Fund class manager together with Research
• Coordinate Annual Fund targets for Leadership Giving prospects with Leadership Giving colleagues and track progress
• Build Annual Fund leadership pool with a focus on reunion giving and the leadership giving pipeline

Supervision of Annual Fund Leadership Officer
• Supervise the Annual Fund Leadership Officer

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
• Bachelor's Degree
• 5 or more years of fundraising experience
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal customer service, and analytical and organizational skills
• Demonstrated volunteer management experience
• Ability to work both independently and creatively within established guidelines, while at the same time functioning as a member of a team in a complex fundraising environment
• Demonstrated relationship building, initiative, continuous improvement
• Experience asking for leadership level gifts
• Database experience, proficient in MS Access, Excel, and Word; and ability to learn new software
• Some evenings and weekends required as well as travel domestically to visit with prospects and volunteers throughout the year and as necessary
