Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Counselor at the Respite Program for Behavioral Health Network in Westfield, MA! Counselors use their interviewing, observation, and documentation skills to establish rapport with psychiatric individuals, family members, and service providers. While providing comfort for individuals in the program, they also plan and implement their treatment and ensure that they are provided the necessary services for their needs. Counselors are very team-based and recognize when to consult a supervisor, coworker, or another party to contribute to decision-making.

Counselors can learn and grow through their supervision and trainings provided. They develop their recovery skills with the population served in mind and become familiar with the recovery supports and services available in the local community to assist the individuals.

The Respite is a safe, supervised, environment. Individuals served are provided a range of services including medical evaluations, groups, outreach to local community appointments and one-on-one meetings. Behavioral Health Network is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that has been providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Western Massachusetts since 1938. BHN provides comprehensive, outcome-driven behavioral health care. We are dedicated to offering high quality, affordable and culturally appropriate care to people of all ages and income levels in our constituent communities.
Requirements:
Counselors at BHN have the following qualities:
• Knowledge of the chronic mentally ill population.
• 1 year experience in a human service field or equivalent experience with a psychiatric population.
• Applicants with lived experience, wishing to use their own recovery to assist others, are also encouraged to apply.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
• Valid MA Driver’s License and registered and insured vehicle for on-the-job use.
