Description:
Two year full time grant funded position to manage the day to day operation of the Town’s Waste Reduction Enforcement Grant. Conduct public outreach, including maintaining and updating the current resources on the Town recycling web pages and develop items to be distributed while doing inspections/data collection or at various community events. Collaborate with community organizations and schools to provide a summary of information with a focus on the Regulations, including mandatory recycling and the waste bans. Coordinate educational meetings between DPW staff and the Permitted Haulers prior to conducting inspections. Work with the haulers to identify customers who are not following the Town regulations and communicate with them the consequences of noncompliance. Prepare reports for state and local government agencies for evaluation of programs. Maintain relationships with state and local agencies, waste haulers, institutions, businesses and other communities.
Requirements:
Requires graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in environmental science, public administration or a closely related field, and a minimum of three years’ experience related to recycling or solid waste programs and two years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment. Pay is $15.47 hour plus benefits.
