Red Fire Farm is looking for someone who is creative with an eye for color and a strong work ethic to work in our flower and greenhouse departments. The ideal candidate has a passion for fieldwork, attention to detail, and sees themselves caring for our flower crop, from transplanting to bouquet making for our flower CSA members, farmers’ markets, and wholesale customers. Ideally you would be able to start with our greenhouse team, starting our flower seeds but also working with the team on all aspects of the greenhouse season, from seeding to trellising tomatoes, propagating strawberries to transplanting, and everything else we do in between! It makes for a great transition into the flower season which is in full gear starting at the end of June and finishing in mid- September.
Responsibilities
– Seeding, potting, and caring for flower and vegetable starts. Including weekend watering and greenhouse venting on a rotating schedule.
– Fieldwork including installation of weed mat and trellising, weeding, and harvesting of flowers.
– Making bouquets for our CSA members, farmers markets, and wholesale customers.
– Helping to maintain a clean work environment in the greenhouses and flower cellar.
– Driver’s license not required, but must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in all conditions.
Schedule
Position can begin in late February and runs through mid-September. Winter work in other farm departments may be available once the flower season is over. It is possible, if you are an exceptional candidate, to only work the flower season, late June to mid September, but being a part of the greenhouse team is preferred.
Hours
Typical greenhouse hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Which may change during peak season (7:00 a.m. start) and work load, flexibility is appreciated. Due to the nature of farming, all crew are expected to be available to work on the holidays that occur during the active farming season and to work in all weather conditions. During flower season our hours change to 6:30 to 5:30, with shorter days on Fridays.

JOB TYPE: Full-time if part of the greenhouse team, part-time if flowers only.
