Reporting to the Production Services Coordinator, the Production Services Technician provides technical support in the planning and provision of sound, lighting, staging and video production services.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with performers, event sponsors, the Visual & Performing Arts Departments and student activities’ faculty/staff, and student technical crews to ensure the successful design and implementation of sound, lighting, video and staging programs;
  • Provides lighting setup & operation, live sound reinforcement, other audio and video services and general stage management logistics, in coordination with event hosts;
  • Delivers and deploys audio visual equipment to support academic programs and events;
  • Provides audio and visual support to the faculty in the Visual and Performing Arts department;
  • Serves as a technical liaison to guest artists, performers, and vendors;
  • Maintains existing mobile and installed audio/visual equipment including sound, lighting, projection and other venue systems;
  • Collaborates with faculty in the Music department to support the software and hardware in the Hess Center Recording Studio;
  • Collaborates with Radio Station Advisor to maintain equipment, complete filing for license compliance, and manage music licensing through BMI, ASCAP and more.
  • Provides training and support for audio visual systems installed in the Hess Center for the Arts performance spaces, and other event and meeting facilities on campus, in collaboration with other ITS staff members;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred, 1-3 years’ experience working with sound and lighting in a performance environment, working in an educational environment is preferred Proficiency with digital sound technologies including mixing digital consoles, digital processors, and installed equipment; Proficiency with post-production software, and familiarity with Google applications and PowerPoint is highly desirable; Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and/or weekend hours, to support special events, rehearsals and performances; Strong initiative and the ability to be self-directed, resourceful and creative; Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously; Ability to troubleshoot complex A/V systems; Willingness and ability to learn additional technologies as needed; Strong written and oral communication skills; Attention to details; Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; Facility with and interest in the promotion of cooperation and teamwork with colleagues; Strong customer service orientation; Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

 

**SIGN-ON BONUS**

The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at time of hire and $500 paid at the end of 90 days of employment.
